Shift on Blake
The idea for the townhouses stemmed from a movement of choice and the thinking that the aging population with family that have left home would desire a new place to call home that has a WOW value. It is the “shift” from the ¼ acre to a sophisticated home – a place to be proud of, securer and enjoyed and still can cater for when the family come home.
The building relays the shift through a movement and modulation in the floor plates and from the Prosford Street elevation a movement in the wall planes. The articulation of shifting is also apparent through the way the screens of the building allow a shift or change in appearance like a kinetic sculpture depending on where the user positions or places them.
The building design is intended to be appreciated by the community and the passer-by through the buildings material textures, its adaptability and it’s interaction of change.
